How to Overcome Your Weakness

Overcome Your Weakness

Like many successful people, you can overcome your weakness. Let’s face it, nobody is perfect; just like Superman, everybody has a kryptonite.

Did you know that the number one fear of people is public speaking (number two is fear of death)? The problem with a lot of people is that they don’t exert any effort to face their fears. People only fear things they don’t understand yet.

I’d like to share with you a few secrets that every expert has been using.

What if you’re afraid of what’s going to happen?

A lot of people tell me that they’re afraid that they might fail or that they might get ridiculed. My answer would always be: “how would you know if you’re not going to try?”

To better relate with this problem, I believe the story of Schrodinger’s cat would be the most excellent example.

Schrodinger made an experiment with his cat. He put his cat inside a bunker and filled it with poisonous gas. If he doesn’t open the bunker, he is left with two assumptions: either the cat is dead or the cat is alive. The only way to find out is to look inside the bunker.

Don’t leave yourself wondering what may or may not happen. Go ahead, try it out and see what happens.

Do it now!

How do you turn your weakness into your strength?

Tell you what – whether your weakness is public speaking, SEO, article writing or programming, every skill can be learned. You just have to understand how it works.

I remember back then that my weakness was programming in Java. I had sleepless nights in college wondering if I would ever pass my programming subject.

During that time, my peers were much better at programming than me.

One day, I decided do everything I can to learn programming. I started reading books and learned from free online training. After a few days, I understood how the basic concepts of programming in Java worked.

Day after day, I applied everything I learned. I consistently did all every programming exercise I could find around the Internet. I just programmed and programmed until I’ve mastered it.

Long story short, it took me 5 times quicker to code a few simple projects compared to my peers.

How, you might ask?

It’s because my peers didn’t take the time to master their skill; they simply slacked off when they were already passing all programming exams and activities. On the other hand, I consistently worked very hard to turn my weakness into a strength until such a time that I’ve mastered it.

Overcoming your weakness is not easy. It takes a lot of time, effort, and dedication to overcome it. In order to overcome your weakness, you must remember to do it now, and keep doing it until you’ve mastered it.
